Announcement:
All Things Radio
On Thursday, December 17, 2009, at 6:30 PM EST, the "All Things Radio" podcast will be featured in The Fred Bertelsen Old Time Radio Room of www.radiooutofthepast.org
"All Things Radio," was the dream of Bill and Jennifer Sparks and began early this year. The 39 podcasts run thus far are available for download from the "All Things Radio" folder at
www.legend-oldies.com
Averaging about an hour in length and at this time anchored by Michael Loft, each podcast features
1. Radio news from Jeff Bennett,
2. Format and call letter changes from Jennifer Sparks,
3. Airchecked samples of radio stations from Bill Sparks,
4. Profiles of broadcasters and podcast contributors from Walt Kramer,
5. And occasional historical features, such as the history of Detroit 's WJR.
After each podcast, there's usually close to a half-hour available for an informal chat about radio. Anyone who would normally come in for the 8 pm Old Time Radio program is welcome to join us for the chat, which is usually moderated by Marcia Moses. For that matter, all are welcome to come in at 6:30 pm EDT and make a night
Bill Sparks currently has three streaming radio channels on line. They
are:
1. The Legend, featuring oldies from the mid '50s to the mid '70s,
2. The Country Legend, featuring classic country music, and
3. Remember Radio, featuring old-time radio shows.
The three radio services operate 24/7, and links to them can be found
At: www.billsparks.org
Also available from www.billsparks.org are links to at least eight thousand radio stations that stream their broadcasts on line.
>From another Bill Sparks web site, www.rememberradio.com thousands of old-time radio shows are available for purchase. Customers may either buy programs on CDs, or purchase copies of shows that can be downloaded

Radio out of the past
Hello Old-Time-Radio Fans,
What a wonderful time we all had at Joan Leonard's virtual birthday party last week. This program is now archived on Radio Out of the Past.
Also, the Bertelsen library files through 29 are also archived on the web site.
This week, Joy Jackson is our host. She will feature the Christmas party and shows presented by the American Radio Theater. Let us see what joy has to say about the program.
Just a couple of weeks after the Old-time-radio Marathon (Dec 5-6) on Radio Out of the Past.org, a new-time radio marathon will be presented in the Fred Bertelsen Old-Time-Radio Room. On Dec 17, Joy Jackson will share the fun and frivolities that transpired at the American Radio Theater's Christmas 2009 party.
The two branches of American Radio Theater have a special tradition in December. The Lexington Kentucky chapter broadcasts a performance to their colleagues in Seattle, over the Internet, and Seattle broadcasts a performance (or two) back to them. We celebrate our fifth anniversary of broadcasts this year.
On Dec. 17, the unmodified recording of the 2009 broadcast will be played into the chat-room, as if it were live. This year, ART-Lexington will present a brand new Great Gildersleeve show, written by Mike Wheeler. ART-Seattle will entertain with a brand-new episode of Chang Apana, written by Joy Jackson, followed by a recreation of Ethel and Albert-"Putting up the Christmas Tree", and we'll end the session with Vic and Sade-"Rush Shares his Plan for Christmas Presents". It's likely to run an hour and a half, so we'll probably be starting about 5:30 pm Pacific (8:30 Eastern).
Be sure to stop by and listen to the fun. Dec 17, www.RadioOutofthePast.org, in the Fred Bertelsen Old-Time-Radio Room. If you haven't dropped in before, you'll need to download some software, so come by a little early. Click on the Fred Bertelsen room, and follow the instructions.
See you there!
