ISSUES FACING PERSONS WHO ARE BLIND
EDUCATION OF BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED PERSONS

February 19, 2012

Welcome to the February edition of “Issues Facing Persons Who Are Blind as we present the education of persons who are blind or visually impaired. The program will be Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 6 to 7 p.m. Pacific time, and other times which will be listed below.

I look forward to a great discussion of how blind and visually impaired persons went through education years ago as some of us did, and what it’s like today from those of you who are in a new generation with much improved technology, or is it?

I’ve had a few email comments asking that we discuss the education of persons who are blind from the baby boomers to date, and I thought it was a great idea to discuss everything from mainstreaming versus the State schools for the blind, high schools, and colleges/universities pertaining to all facets of majors and degrees.

Please join us on accessibleworld.org at the above date and the times listed below for a lively discussion on whether educational opportunities have improved, are worse, or equal throughout the years. How do you feel that your educational opportunities can be vastly improved, and finally, how has your Department of Rehabilitation assisted you in your educational decisions.

Finally, I am not forgetting the medical model for blind and visually impaired persons, but am patiently waiting for either a good guest in the medical field, or getting a few interviews from medical personnel in order to cover all gaps of medical treatment.
