Jenine Stanley will take you through the planning process to prepare for disasters, both global and personal. There are three types of disasters, those requiring evacuation, those requiring staying put and those of a personal nature. Knowing what to do and having an action plan helps decrease stress during what will be an inherently stressful time. What kinds of information should you prepare for regarding your disability, your assistance dog, your adaptive equipment? How do you handle being evacuated? How can you get involved in local emergency preparedness drills and other efforts? We’ll discuss all of these topics and more.
Jenine Stanley serves as Consumer Relations Coordinator for the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s Vetdogs. She is also the Public Affairs Officer for Flotilla 18-06 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Columbus, Ohio.
