Accessible World Tek Talk presents: Internet Explorer 8 with JAWS, Window-Eyes and System Access, October 12, 2009 by Anna Dresn

As web pages have become more complicated, screen reader manufacturers have added more and more features to help users navigate them. Some of these features are fantastic and make complicated pages easy to navigate. The problem, though, is that it's hard for users to keep up with the new features and to understand how to use them effectively.
Anna Dresner, who recently compiled a list of keyboard commands for Internet Explorer 8 with the three most popular Windows screen readers in the U.S., will demonstrate using some of these techniques to navigate some complicated sites. She will focus mostly on commands common to all three screen readers, such as the ability to move by heading, list, and table. She will walk you through some sites, such as Amazon, eBay, Twitter, and the New York Times, and suggest strategies for determining effective ways to navigate them.
