ACCESSIBLE WORLD EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM PRESENTS “A COMPLAINT FREE WORLD”

What is a complaint, and why do we feel such a deep need to get the attention of others in such a negative way? When we choose this path, do we turn off listeners who might approach our problem with more graciousness and willingness if we spoke more positively. Is one always justified or a bid for attention we need? Are there strategies that would serve us better in getting others to hear us and respond? What is a creative complaint and When is it the better option? Letters or calls of complaint are often necessary and can bring about positive results for both sides, but too much of anything is, as many say, a bad thing with diminishing returns. Before we decide to take a stand for ourselves, should we attempt to gather information before we give in to our need to have it out with the company or person who has done us wrong? Some think it is best to voice our feelings while we are angry, but is that really best? How can we properly evaluate our situation in order to determine whether it merits this response? Are friends and relatives wiser than us in advising us to "sleep on it "or to "not act hastily." What is the value of waiting? How important is it to follow the chain of command in a company and finding the right individual with whom to express our displeasure? How long should one wait? Is there a time to give in and give up, a time when facing failure is best? If others have heard our reason for unhappiness, can it be said something has been accomplished after all?

In our next empowerment book discussion, we'll cover these and other issues. Is it true there will be no change if you don't complain?
